The Castle of Jouy-le-Châtel

The castle which gives its name to Jouy-le-Châtel no longer exists. It was located south of the village, near the present castle Vigneau, quoted from the thirteenth century. After the Revolution, Jouy-le-Châtel is in the first division of France, the chief town of a canton of 14 municipalities. It was dismantled in the early nineteenth century and is attached to Jouy canton Nangis.
