The castle of Dampierre is a classic French Castle located in a valley against the Chevreuse Valley in the town of Dampierre-en-Yvelines in the department of Yvelines in the region Île-de-France .
It was built in the last quarter of the seventeenth century by Jules Hardouin-Mansart on the orders of the Duke of Chevreuse, Charles Honoré d'Albert, son in law of Colbert. It is located in a large park designed by Le Nôtre.
The castle of Dampierre, where sejourned Louis XIV and Louis XV, is the property of the family of Albert de Luynes since 1663. This family also owns Castle of Luynes in Indre-et-Loire department.
The castle is subject to registration as a historic monument since May 30, 1928
