Louis Potier was Marquis de Gesvres Tresviers Count, Baron and Montjay Fresnoy, Lord of Bourg-la-Reine, du Plessis-Picquet (Plessis-Robinson) and Sceaux, where he built a large house to 1597 on the site of the former hotel of Baillet and it is this house that was bought and later transformed by Colbert. On land that René Potier added around 1640 to the field, stood the pond called the Dead Sea which, with the valley where it was, served to André Le Nôtre to build the pool of the octagon and the general area of canal Colbert.

Colbert was acquired from the field April 11, 1670, had rebuilt the old church in ruins dating back to 1476 and then enlarged by the purchase of other adjacent land, bringing together a vast territory far beyond the limits of the current fleet . He did expand the existing hotel and charged Le Nôtre to design a French park. Until the Revolution and the confiscation of the area as a national asset in 1793, the history of the village of Sceaux remained inseparable from that domain and its successive owners: Colbert after his eldest son the Marquis de Seignelay, then the Duke and the duchess and the duke of Penthièvre for the most notable.

The area of the Seals, transformed some time in School of Agriculture, was bought in 1798 by a merchant of St. Malo, Jean François Hippolyte Lecomte. The poor condition of the castle soon led him to destroy it, he assured, however, the conservation of various buildings, including the Pavillon de l'Aurore and the Orangerie. The park was transformed into agricultural land, the fate of the Annex Menagerie found himself save through its acquisition by an association of residents of Sceaux. It is in this park that will be held for decades the famous Bal de Sceaux, where Honoré de Balzac is some scenes of his novel Le Bal de Sceaux, and he describes as "a weekly party, which by its importance , then threatened to become an institution. Le Palais du Luxembourg:

History of Palais du Luxembourg:

However, that became the portion of the same land acquired by MM. of Luxembourg? Anthony, in this family, was the stem of the branches of Brienne and Pinéi the first died in 1608 and the second passed in 1620, the home of Albert de Luynes. In addition, Marguerite de Luxembourg, daughter of the Duke of Pinéi, was married in the house of Gesvres Therefore, if chance alone gave an Albert and one of Gesvres, rocked, some in possession of this that had belonged to Luxembourg, Count de Brienne, is that chance is not quite done things? Charles d'Albert, Duke of Chaulnes, godson of Charles I, King of England and Henrietta of France, which was three times as ambassador to Rome to attend the election of Clement IX Clement X and Alexander VIII had the grated Berci Vine Chaulnes. Closer to Paris and away from less Berci, a country house in Potter, Duke of Gesvres, governor of Paris, noted the late great reign.
Spread between these two properties of the pond Berci, including water almost dormant de Montreuil to flow down, reluctantly, into the Seine. It was a water-made for the approval of a garden designed in the vineyard of Chaulnes by Lenôtre. A buffet of water basins and there were established by a Carmelite, Sébastien Truchet, mechanic very distinguished member of the Academy of Sciences. Louis-Leon Pajot d'Ons-en-Bray, Quartermaster General of letter mail, which did not succeed directly to the Duke of Chaulnes combines the waterfowl.
Menagerie, an orangery, a chemistry lab and a cabinet of curiosities then gave importance to this country hotel, the building was placed on the side of the street Berci, that is to say at the bottom of garden, and it was simple, but larger than similar houses that followed, some close to the street, the other near the Quai de la Rapee, called path along the River. Among these was the country seat of Mr. de Gesvres, acquired in the year 1717, or nearly so, by a Mr. Cross, that everything leads us to believe Peter Cross, controller's house regent river was formed in the English garden of the villa by the flow of the overflow of the pond, and a neighbor gave passage culvert under the road to the river, which without crashing, was lost in the Seine. Mr. Pajot, leaving the king, by will, the sights of any kind he had gathered, ceased to live in 1754.
The two houses that we have just quoted appeared four other elders, who also embraced the pond. One related to the old vine Chaulnes, belonged to Ms. Le Vayer, a then Mr. Vieuville of having to Madame de Maulevrier tenant that according to Mr. Cross, already equipped with the former home of Gesvres, and separating the property, one of the other two were hers to M. Orry. Do we not know that Philibert Orry, if the financial manhandled in the Memoires de Sain-Simon, became Comptroller General? His brother, Orry of Fulvy was councilor of state, superintendent of finance. Whichever Orry who has acquired such pleasure in house gives pleasure, soon after, Madame de Parabere, born of Coatker Vieuville, mistress of the regent.

Castle of Limeray:

Two articles are about monuments destroyed:

- Extract from the article by André Chastel Le Monde, January 22, 1946, "Les monuments destroyed" ,

The map of our ruin is, as we know, very different from the other war. The 1940 campaign, which spread beyond the Loire to the Rhone, aerial bombardment looking around sensitive points, the final battle on the sleeve and the Mediterranean, have widespread havoc that war position had he thirty years ago, limited to a large area or collapsed Arras, Cambrai, Reims and Soissons. Sixty counties are mentioned in the lists of historic monuments.
Two years of preparatory bombing and two months of modern warfare has reduced the border of Normandy and the Ile-de-France to a state comparable to that of Artois and the campaign of 1918.

- Extract from the article by Catherine Bedarida The World of October 16, 1996, "Urban Ruins"

Number of unfinished buildings, abandoned, derelict, were sometimes used by artists, places of residence up to their imagination, etc ...

In 1683, the castle and grounds of Chateau-Thierry and Villers-Coterets were part of the royal buildings.
