The Dungeon of Vez

The Dungeon Vez is a fortress located in the fourteenth century Vez in the department of Oise in France. Its owners have restored and now serves as a forum for contemporary artistic sculptures, paintings and stained glass.

At the heart of the valley rises the Fall dungeon Vez, imposing medieval fortress which dates back to the Gallo-Roman period.

Under Roman rule, Vez became a military camp for defending Gaul against barbarian invasions. From the invasion of Franks, Vez became a military post at the head of a province. After the Battle of Soissons in 486, Vez took the title of capital of a territory for five centuries, it became the capital of Valois. The castle of stone and wood, which nothing remains, overlooking the valley from the top of the hill.
