The castle of Pierrefonds

Pierrefonds castle is an imposing castle located on the edge Pierrefonds southeast of the forest of Compiegne, north of Paris, between Villers-Cotterets and Compiegne. This castle has the most features of the defensive work of the Middle Ages. Dismantled in the seventeenth century by order of Richelieu, he remained in ruins for two centuries, until Napoleon III asked Viollet-le-Duc to undertake its restoration ....
